Junior Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honor Society is the only national organization for middle or junior high school students that recognizes excellence in the field of Social Studies. Any accredited public or private middle or junior high school can apply for a local chapter, through which individuals will be inducted into the Junior Rho Kappa National Social Studies Honor Society. A Junior Rho Kappa chapter at your school provides national recognition for your outstanding students and encourages an interest in, understanding of, and appreciation for the social studies.

The House of Delegates (HOD) provides a forum for the general membership of NCSS, as represented by state councils, communities, and associated groups, to bring ideas, principles, beliefs, and actions regarding social studies education to the attention of the NCSS Board of Directors. Resolutions are the framework through which the NCSS membership at-large makes recommendations to the Board.
