Code of Conduct for Participants in NCSS Virtual Professional Learning Programs

By registering for and/or participating in an NCSS Virtual Professional Learning Program, you have consented to comply with the following Code of Conduct. NCSS is committed to providing a safe, productive, and welcoming environment for all meeting participants and NCSS staff. All participants, including, but not limited to, attendees, speakers, volunteers, NCSS staff members, service providers, and all other are expected to abide by this Virtual Professional Learning Programs Code of Conduct.

NCSS has zero-tolerance for any form of discrimination or harassment, including, but not limited to, sexual harassment by participants or NCSS staff. We operate on a one-strike policy with our Code of Conduct. After one strike, you will be made to leave the program. We do not tolerate the following:

  • Spam (verbally or in chats), including saying or reposting the same word/content repeatedly in order to disrupt the conversation.
  • Copying or recording chat room discussions, Q&A sessions, or presentations.
  • Harassment, bullying, discrimination, and intimidation, defined as:
    • Negative comments about race/ethnicity, gender or gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, religion, physical appearance, body size, citizenship, or other protected categories.
    • Intimidation or threats, including sharing images or text, especially to threaten.
    • Unwelcome sexual attention, including sharing images or text especially to sexually harass.
    • Disruption of presentations during sessions, in the exhibit hall, or during any meetings or events organized by NCSS throughout the virtual program by making any inappropriate comments, sharing any inappropriate content, or taking over control of the presentation.
    • Threatening or other endangerment of minors.
    • Any activity meant to convey or cultivate hostility.
    • Ad hominem insults or other attacks.
    • Encouraging any of the above behavior.

NCSS reserves the right to take any action deemed necessary and appropriate, including immediate removal from the virtual program without warning or refund, in response to any incident of unacceptable behavior.

Any violations of this Code of Conduct should be reported to conference@ncss.org or 301-850-7457, so that we can take appropriate action.
