Call for Expertise: NCSS Task Forces Fall 2023

Call for Expertise: NCSS Task Forces Fall 2023

NCSS is calling all members to apply for one of three new task forces forming to review and potentially update current position statements. Each task force will recommend whether to update, completely re-write, or keep its assigned position statement as presented. All NCSS position statements are an important part of NCSS’ ongoing advocacy initiatives. All members with experience and/or current assignments related to teaching, research, curriculum development, supervision, and/or policy related to a position statement’s topic are encouraged to apply.

Criteria

Please consider the following criteria in nominating yourself or others for a task force:

  1. Any task force member must be a current member of NCSS.
  2. NCSS welcomes a diversity in backgrounds, experiences, years of education experience, and geographic locations. NCSS seeks to raise the voices of all social studies professionals in an organization whose culture is inclusive and where all voices are encouraged, supported and celebrated.
  3. Task force work takes commitment. Each task force will be requested to meet at specific times online as determined by the appointed chair. Please make sure the individuals you are recommending understand the time commitment.

NCSS Task Forces are appointed by the NCSS President, in consultation with the Board of Directors. A member of the Board will serve as liaison or as a member of the Task Force. For more information on these service opportunities, please contact Dr. Lawrence Paska, Executive Director, at lpaska@ncss.org.

Applications are due by October 31, 2023
