NCSS Conferences Code of Conduct

By participating in the NCSS Annual Conference, you agree to comply with the following Code of Conduct. NCSS is committed to providing a welcoming, safe, productive, and collaborative environment for all meeting participants, NCSS and other event and facilities staff. All participants, including, but not limited to, attendees, speakers, volunteers, NCSS staff members, service providers, and all other are expected to abide by this Code of Conduct in all event spaces and when participating in any virtual platforms, and using mobile and online conference aps.

  • All participants are expected to maintain a professional and civil discourse throughout the event space. Harassment, bullying, discrimination, and intimidation will not be tolerated. This includes, but is not limited to:
    • Negative comments about race/ethnicity, gender or gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, age, religion, physical appearance, body size, citizenship, or other protected categories.
    • Intimidation or threats, including sharing images or text, especially to threaten.
    • Unwelcome sexual attention, including sharing images or text especially to sexually harass.
    • Unwarranted disruption of sessions, events or other conference activity.
    • Threatening or other endangerment of minors.
    • Any activity meant to convey or cultivate hostility.
    • Ad hominem insults or other attacks.
    • Encouraging any of the above behavior.
  • All participants must comply with the instructions of conference organizers, event staff,  presenters and/or moderators.
  • All participants must obey all applicable laws and comply with venue policies.
  • Participants may not record, transmit, copy, or take screen shots of material portions of any presentations, sessions or events or activity that takes place in the event space without consent.
  • Presentations, online postings, and messages should not contain promotional materials, special offers, job offers, product announcements, or solicitation for services unless pre-approved by NCSS. NCSS reserves the right to remove any such communications that have not been pre-approved.

NCSS reserves the right to take any action deemed necessary and appropriate, including denial of further access and participation at the discretion of event organizers. NCSS will not be responsible for reimbursement or refund if you are denied access or participation in response to any incident of unacceptable behavior.

Any violations of this Code of Conduct should be reported to conference@ncss.org or 301-850-7457, so that we can take appropriate action.
