Keely Mata is the Education Programs Manager in the Professional Learning Department. She facilitates the various professional development opportunities provided to social studies teachers, such as webinars, workshops, and conferences.

Keely’s passion for history began when she read the Other Boleyn Girl by Philippa Gregory in high school. Her fascination with learning about how historical events shape human experience led her to obtain a BA in History with a minor in Museum Studies from Aurora University in Aurora, Illinois. She lives in the cornfields of Illinois, somewhat near Chicago.

In her early career, Keely curated an antique/vintage and rare car museum for a private golf course estate where she was also part of the team that organized and executed the 2015 Palmer Cup and 2015 Western Amateur. She then spent seven years running a medical research nonprofit for a rare neurodegenerative disease; developing programming for affected individuals and families to promote awareness and higher quality of life including an annual conference. Keely’s combined education and work experience background brings a well-rounded point of view to the team at the NCSS and she is thrilled to be part of the Professional Learning community.
